Cheryl Carter: Cultivating a Culture of Learning at Home
Cheryl Carter is a creative and competent homeschool mom, who has graduated three children from homeschooling. All have gone on to competitive colleges and received generous academic scholarships. Married for nearly thirty years, she and her husband minister to busy families through their ministry, Foundations for Family Success. Cheryl is also a freelance parenting writer, homeschool leader and the author of several books, including but not limited to Organize Your ADD/ADHD Child, Chasing God and the Kids Too, Getting Organized and Staying Organized, Inspiring the Writer in Your Child, Put Your Life in Order and Essential Writing Skills for the College-bound Student. Cheryl enjoys helping busy mothers, like herself, with time management/ organizational skills. As a mother of seven, including two sets of twins, she knows the challenges of balancing time and priorities. In addition to parenting her young sons, she also runs an online school for college-bound homeschool students and tutors at-risk children. Cheryl speaks regularly at conferences, retreats and conventions. Her presentations draw on her real life experiences, practical biblical application and are coupled with a level of authenticity and humor that really motivate her audiences to action.
Belinda Bullard: How to Incorporate African-American Studies in Your Current Curriculum
Belinda is a wife and homeschooling mother of three, Belinda is an author and the owner of A Blessed Heritage Educational Resources, a literature-based history curriculum featuring African-American presence in history, as well as the contributions of other races to American history. A chemical engineer by formal education, she also serves as adjunct faculty for college distance learning programs. Belinda blogs at Simply Belinda and Chronicles of a Blessed Heritage.
Nicole Proctor: Fostering an Entrepreneurial Spirit in Your Child
Nicole is a “Never At Home/Stay At Home” Mom who homeschools her two children Madison (9) and Mikey (5). She is the loving wife of 15 years to her husband Kenneth. Though she wears many hats, the hat Nicole loves best is the one called Mother. Nicole is C.E.O. of Sweet Maddie’s Pound Cakes in East Norriton, Pennsylvania. This budding business was birthed during the winter of 2014 as an offshoot of homeschooling her daughter Madison. Sweet Maddie’s Pound Cakes started with one cake pan and a dream, and now Nicole and her daughter sell their delicious and creatively dressed pound cakes locally.

- Creating Your Own Unit Studies: If you’re struggling to find diversity in traditional pre-packaged unit studies or if the price of unit studies is too costly, you’ll want to attend this workshop! Learn how to create unique unit studies that will offer the diversity you seek and will provide meaningful educational activities.
- Physical Fitness for Mother and Child: Physical fitness is an essential part of a healthy homeschool, but it often gets pushed aside by other subjects like math and reading. Learn why it’s important for both mother and child to incorporate daily periods of physical activity. In addition, check out exercises you can do to help ensure the homeschool household stays fit while having fun.
- Special Needs Homeschooling: You CAN homeschool your special needs child! This workshop will include information on the understanding your child’s diagnosis, accepting the diagnosis, discovering your child’s learning style, and finding a rhythm that works for your child. If your feel like you’re sinking fast in the sea of special needs education, this workshop will also provide the inspiration and encouragement you need to continue homeschooling your special needs child.
- College Bound Creative Writing: Research shows that college success depends largely on reading and writing skills. In this practical workshop you’ll gain information about some essential writing skills our homeschool college bound teens need to successfully navigate college.
- Using Interactive Math Notebooks: During this workshop, you will learn what an interactive notebook is and find out how it can be used to enhance your math teaching. In addition, you will discover how to create an interactive math notebook and find out where to look for free notebooking materials.
- Delight Directed Learning: Would you like your child to pursue individual interests according to her own learning style? Would you like to provide the structure and direction necessary to meet academic requirements and ensure all the core subjects are taught? This workshop will introduce you to Delight Directed Learning and show how your family can enjoy the best of both worlds.
- Essential Study Skills: Effective study skills are important in homeschooling and in higher education. In this workshop you will learn how to help their students learn how to organize their school work, the proper way to take notes, ace exams, recall information easily, manage their time and improve study effectiveness.
- Making Word Problems Work: Many elementary school children struggle with word problems. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to help your child understand methods of solving word problems and make the teaching and solving of word problems more manageable.
- Homeschool Preschool: This workshop will address the needs of the younger members of our homeschools. Learn about the specific needs of preschoolers and find out what you need to create a comfortable, engaging, educational, and fun preschool experience at home. You’ll leave with ideas for practical activities you implement right away.
- Balance Is the Key: Time Management for Moms: This workshop will focus on how moms who feel they have to do everything can biblically determine their daily schedule. This workshop will focus on basic time management skills with an emphasis on moms applying it to their daily lives and homeschool schedule.
- Lapbooking 101: Lapbooking is a wonderful hands-on educational tool and this workshop will introduce you to the basics of creating lapbooks. Learn what a lapbook is, discover how to make a lapbook, and find out where you can find information and activities to make lapbooks.
- Creating a Young Inventor’s Makerspace at Home: If you have a child who loves to make and do, this workshop is for you! Discover how to help your child exercise her natural creativity in a fun and unique way all while thinking outside of the box. You’ll learn how to create a fun and inexpensive at home Makerspace, equipped with the tools and supplies children need to flex their mental muscles by concocting a variety of neat hands-on projects using a variety of household items.
